Queen’s University Belfast are holding an information evening hosted by the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Department aimed at AS/A2 Level students, Parents and Teachers who have a career interest in following a Social Science degree pathway. The evening will highlight the various routes into employment available to those students who join the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Department at QUB. The event will run on Thursday 17th Octiber 7.00pm-9.00pm.

Queens University Belfast – Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences are are holding an Open Information Evening on 16th April in the Whitla Hall from 5.45pm -9.00pm for all Yr13 Pupils who are interested in hearing more about the range of degrees the Fcaulty offers, and the broad range of careers opportunities available to graduates of the faculty. Potential students and parents will have the opportunity to hear from current staff, students and past graduates as well as being able to take part in taster sessions in the disciplines on offer. The University of Ulster are holding a parents information evening at their Jordanstown Campus on Monday 15th April for any parents of pupils in Yrs10-13 who may want to learn more information about life at the University of Ulster. During the evening the various progression routes to university will be discussed as well as the courses on offer. Parents will be given the opportunity to browse faculty stands and speak to representitives from Student Support, the Students’ Union, Careres Development Centre, Access and Distributed Laearning, Accomodation Office and Greater Belfast Redevelopment. The School of Law at Queens University will be hosting an open night for Yr13 & Yr14 Pupils and Parents on Thursday 18th April in the Whitla Hall 6.30 – 8.30pm. Bombardier have now opened applications for their Modern Apprenticeship Programme. An advertisement is currently running on Cool FM and the closing date for applications is Friday 8th March. Following the initial application deadline in January, St. Mary’s College Belfast has re-opened some courses for application. This may be of interest to those pupils who have not previously considered St. Mary’s for 2013 entry and who may wish to extend their range of University course applications. The applicable courses include: BA (Hons) Liberal Arts (all subject areas) – Application deadline 31st May 2013 and BEd (Hons) Primary and Post Primary (Irish, Science, Maths and Technology) – Application deadline 8th March 2013. QUB School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is celebrating International Woman’s Day 2013 with a Poster Competition open to all students in Yr’s 8-14. Due to the inability of gaining work placements in the field of Psychology, the Belfast Trust has decided to host two Clinical Psychology Open Days. These days will be of benefit to any Yr13 pupil who is considering persuing a career in Psychology. The days will provide information on: Undergraduate degrees in Psychology, working within the NHS, Applied Psychologies and Clinical Psychology. The two dates available are the 20th February and the 6th March. If you would like to avail of either of these dates see a member of the Careers staff as soon as possible.
