Stargazing Event at Dalriada

Dalriada School hosted a very successful ‘Stargazing’ evening, where the Irish Astronomical Society visited us with three telescopes and a mobile planetarium. This event was held in conjunction with the BBC Astronomy fortnight.

It was fortunate that the clouds parted for a couple of hours so that pupils, parents, and other guests had the opportunity to view mesmerising views of the Moon, and also Jupiter with four of its largest moons. We then attended a ‘Star Show’ presentation in a large mobile planetarium, where we learned about many interesting astronomy topics. This was presented by Paul Evans, of the BBC.
