Year 12 Business Studies visit McAuley Engineering

On Wednesday 15th October, Yr 12 Business Studies took an industrial visit to McAuley Engineering
as part of their GCSE Controlled Assessment.
From the moment we arrived for a question and answer session we were treated with the up most courtesy and respect by managing director Jonathan McAuley and his colleagues Sarah and David.

We were given a great insight into the business, learning about the various products they develop and also the different elements of Engineering. As part of our controlled assessment we were extremely interested in the areas of Quality Control and Quality Standards, Health & Safety and Entrepreneurship. The information provided was amazing and helped us greatly with our studies.  This was followed by an unexpected treat of chocolate and beverages, giving us time to chat casually about the work that McAuley Engineering completes on a daily basis. Afterwards we were given a tour of the new building and the sparks were literally flying between us and the friendly workers. We had an excellent opportunity to observe the manufacturing process on the factory floor. David then showed us various finished products; we even saw the hand railings for the new London buses.
It was an extremely beneficial day, giving us a great insight into business and engineering. Thank you once again to McAuley Engineering for assisting us in the completion of our GCSE Controlled Assessment task.
