Dalriada travelled up to BRA on Saturday morning in conditions that wouldn’t favour running rugby. The visitors ended up with a fine 21-15 win. With the pitch covered white instead of green after an early morning snow shower, Dalriada were first to make a breakthrough after a penalty following a Jack Dowey break. The penalty was kicked to the corner and after a couple of phases Angus Johnston slipped through a gap for the opening try. This was converted by centre Stewart Moore. From the kick off young winger Ross Fallows made some great ground and obtained a penalty. Dalriada again opted to kick to the Corner and Aaron Christie was bundled over from close range from the line-out. The Conversion was again converted by Moore.
The home team responded applying a lot more pressure and their second row crashed over. The kick was converted and following this the game became a much tighter affair until Dalriada’s Thomas Hunter broke from his own 22 looked odds on to score only be held up by a great covering tackle from the BRA 10. Dalriada kept it tight from the following scrum and Jack McMullan made his way over for the third try of the game. The kick was successful. BRA managed to gain more territory and in the last couple minutes of the half got a penalty to make it 21-10.
The second half got under way with the BRA team attacking in Dalriada’s half. They were marshalled well by their scrum half, who scored off a quick penalty mid way through the half the kick was missed. Dalriada had their opportunities in the half but failed to take them through silly mistakes at crucial times. In the last five minutes, the BRA team made a massive effort, led by the two big lock forwards and although they came close, Dalriada managed to come out on top of this very tight encounter.
