Key Stage 3 History

Our theme for Years 8 & 9 is ‘Significant People from History’, and in Year 10, ‘Significant Events from the Twentieth Century’.

We look at key historical periods, developments and events through a study of the lives and actions of key individuals. We occasionally also collapse our Key Stage Three provision to cover significant historical events as relevant such in 2012 all classes in Years 8-10 undertook a unit of work on Titanic to mark the centenary.

Our current provision includes:

Year 8:

  • The History of our School
  • What is History?
  • Tutankhamun
  • Alexander the Great
  • Julius Caesar
  • William the Conqueror
  • Titanic

Year 9:

  • Martin Luther
  • Henry VIII
  • Mary Queen of Scots
  • Napoleon
  • Witchcraft

Year 10:

  • Causes of World War One
  • The Battle of the Somme
  • Aspects of World War Two
  • The Holocaust (Using the Boy in the Striped Pyjamas)
