At Key Stage 3 Mathematics is delivered over 4 lessons per week (5 in year 8).
Pupils follow the N.I. Curriculum in five unstreamed groups. Our aim is to guide them through the subject, building both their understanding and their confidence.
A series of regularly updated booklets, created within the Mathematics department, is used throughout Key Stage 3 to ensure work is tailored to the needs of our pupils. Pupils are taught using a combination of traditional methods, ICT based activities and practical investigations. This caters for a range of different learning styles. Practice of the required mathematical techniques is gained through a variety of written, oral and practical work, including the use of ICT. Pupils work independently as well as in pairs and groups.
