On 23rd March Dalriada’s Bar Mock team will represent Northern Ireland in the National Final of the Bar Mock Trial Competition.
This year the final is to be held at the Old Bailey in London and will involve 15 other teams from across England, Scotland and Wales.
The National Final will undoubtedly present this new team of legal eagles with some tough competition as the opposing schools will themselves be winners of their region. The students will be judged by legal professionals on their individual performance as they prosecute and defend two carefully planned cases.
Dalriada’s Bar Mock Trial team has been enjoying enormous success in recent times having won the Regionals last year, an invitation to the International Mock Trials in New York in October and then winning the Regionals again in November.
The team members are delighted to have the opportunity to represent Northern Ireland at the Old Bailey.
The team’s great success has meant that the work never stops! The Dalriads want to thank the local community for all their support as they have had to do quite a lot of fund-raising on top of the competition preparation.
The team especially want to thank Old Dalriad and local solicitor Mr Leo McKee of McKee Solicitors in High Street, Ballymoney, who has sponsored their team hoodies this year. Having a team identity is so important and Miss Gregg, Bar Mock Coach, expressed her thanks when Mr McKee’s colleague, Mr John McGill, came into school to present the team with their hoodies.
