In April the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Expedition had to be postponed due to the snow in the Mourne Mountains and so pupils had to complete their assessed Gold expedition during the summer holidays. On 28th July eleven Year 14 pupils and two members of staff set off for four days in the Mournes to complete the assessed expedition section of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.
The pupils hiked for four days and camped for three nights with one of their objectives being to assess the impact of mankind of the Mourne Mountain area. They were monitored by an Duke of Edinburgh assessor during all four days and all pupils successfully completed the expedition.
Well done to all the pupils involved!
